I've been playing with jewelry -specifically a more intense form of beading. I purchased a copy of Bead and Button Magazine and now I'm hooked. This blue necklace was playing around with tube beads. I'm still looking at ways to improve it. I like the geometric look but the necklace bows in the middle. The bowing makes a neat three dimensional effect but doesn't quite save the piece.
The pink necklace is me playing with beading around a pearl. I like how the colors accentuate each other well . Unfortunately, I used gold beading wire which doesn't like to stay tight like the mono-filament. All in all, I like how adding smaller beads to a larger round bead turned out. I will definitely continue playing with this design.
I LOVE a good homemade recipe. Crystal over at Money Saving Mom there's a great recipe for homemade body scrubs via Carrier from My Favorite Finds. The only change I recommend is nix the mineral oil unless you have nut allergies. Mineral oil isn't healthy for your skin.
Here's my recipe for scrubs:
1 Cup Epsom Salt
2 TBSP Oil (jojoba, grape seed, olive, sweet almond etc)
2 TBSP Shea Butter
*optional color and scent to preference about 10 drops dye and 20 drops scent are my preference
Mix it all REALLY well and place in air tight containers.
Crazy Tip:
I love creative people! Over at Happy Clippings there are cute ideas for wrapping gift cards. I like giving gift cards because my family is scattered and my husband's tastes change randomly. Unfortunately, I think they are rather anti-climatic gifts to unwrap.
I stand in awe at the creativity other ladies and gents share and I had several "duh" moments at the same time. If you have gift cards on your shopping list, check out this post for easy ideas on how to spruce up your gift!
